1. Introduction

System Neco (the “Operator”) sets out below how user information is handled in Greeting Cat (the “App”). This policy applies to the App’s features and inquiries about the App.

You do not need to register your name or email address or create a user account to use the App. However, when you contact us, you may provide your email address, inquiry details, and other information.

2. Information we handle

The App handles the following information depending on the features you use. Location information and photos may identify a person based on their content or in combination with other information, so they are not categorically treated as non-personal information.

• Location information and saved places: To retrieve weather for your current location, the App uses location information within the scope permitted on your device. It also handles place names, latitude and longitude, city names, Plus Codes, and other information you enter or select. Saved place names, search information, and the currently selected place are stored on your device.
• Photos, videos, and sharing text: Photos and videos you capture or select, editing details, and accompanying sharing text are used for display and editing in the App, creating images and videos, and sharing. Saved media and settings are stored on your device.
• In-app settings and history: Your language, image display settings, Omikuji results, Weather memo display and playback information, reminder days and times, and similar data are stored on your device to provide features and retain settings.
• Usage, device, and communication information: External services may collect app usage, device and app identifiers, device information such as the OS, IP addresses, ad displays and interactions, diagnostic information, and similar data for advertising and usage analytics. See Section 4, “Transmission to external services and sharing,” for details.
• Inquiry information: When you contact us, we handle your email address, name if supplied, inquiry details, and images or other material you voluntarily attach.

3. How information is used

• To retrieve forecasts for your current location or saved places and display weather information, greetings, and Weather memos.
• To display and edit photos and videos, create greeting images and videos, and share them with recipients or services you select.
• To retain language and display settings, Omikuji results, and similar data, and deliver reminder notifications.
• To deliver ads, measure advertising effectiveness, prevent misuse, understand usage, and improve app quality and features.
• To answer inquiries, investigate issues, and communicate as necessary.

4. Transmission to external services and sharing

The App uses the following external services. Communications with each provider also transmit communication information such as your IP address. Handling of collected information, retention periods, and processing countries or regions depend on each provider’s policies and the applicable settings. Information may be processed on servers outside Japan.

(1) Weather and place searches: WeatherAPI.com
To retrieve forecasts, the App sends latitude and longitude or search strings corresponding to your current or specified location, together with the display language, to WeatherAPI.com. When searching for a place such as a city, it also sends the text needed for that search to the service.

(2) Map display: OpenStreetMap
When you choose a place on the map, the App requests map images for the displayed area from OpenStreetMap’s tile servers. These requests communicate information about the displayed map area, your IP address, and app- and device-related communication information to the service.

(3) Advertising: Google AdMob
The App uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK for advertising, measurement, fraud prevention, and related purposes. Google and other providers involved in ad delivery may collect and use identifiers such as advertising IDs, device information, IP addresses and approximate locations inferred from them, ad and app interactions, diagnostic information, and similar data. The information collected and ads shown vary with device settings, region, consent status, and other factors.

(4) Usage analytics: Google Analytics for Firebase
The App uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand usage and improve the App. Information sent to Google includes events relating to screen views and use of features such as sharing and the camera, app usage, app-instance and similar identifiers, and device information. The App’s custom analytics events do not include photo or video content, sharing text, or precise latitude and longitude.

(5) Sharing and opening external pages at your request
When you use sharing, the images, videos, and text you create are passed to the app or destination you select. If weather information or place names appear in an image or video, they are included in the shared content. Review the content and destination before sharing. Linked websites and sharing destinations handle information under their own policies.

The App has no feature that automatically uploads saved photos, videos, or sharing text to the Operator’s server. Apart from the external services described above, sharing initiated by you, cases where you consent, and cases permitted by law, the Operator does not provide personal information it has obtained to third parties.

5. Storage, deletion, and security

In-app data such as saved places, photos, videos, and settings is stored mainly in the App’s storage area on your device. You can remove saved places and media using the corresponding delete controls. Deleting the App normally also deletes data in its storage area. However, data may remain in backups depending on device or OS backup and restoration settings. Deleting data in the App or uninstalling it does not delete originals in your photo library, data sent to sharing destinations, or information retained by external services.

Inquiry information received by the Operator is retained to the extent necessary to answer inquiries, investigate issues, and serve related purposes; information no longer needed is appropriately deleted. We endeavor to implement security measures suited to the information and actual operations to prevent leakage, loss, damage, unauthorized access, and similar risks. See each external provider’s policies and procedures for its storage and deletion practices.

6. Device permissions, notifications, and audio

The App requests permissions through your device’s permission system for access such as location, camera, photo library, and notifications as needed for the features you use. Recording video may also require microphone permission depending on the OS or recording function. You can change permissions in device settings. Some features may be unavailable if permission is denied.

Reminders are local notifications based on days and times stored on your device. There is no mechanism that sends notification settings to the Operator’s server to deliver reminders. Enable or disable notifications in the App’s reminder settings and your device’s notification settings.

Weather memo playback uses audio data included in the App. It does not record your voice or send your photos, videos, or audio to an audio-generation service for this playback.

7. Your choices and information requests

Use device settings to change permissions for location, camera, photo library, and notifications, and any available settings for advertising identifiers and tracking. Where Privacy Settings appears in the App’s menu, depending on region and consent status, you can review or change advertising choices. Changing advertising settings does not necessarily stop all usage analytics.

To request notification of the purposes of use, access, correction, deletion, suspension of use, or other action concerning your personal information held by the Operator, contact us below. We will verify, to the extent necessary, that the request is from the person concerned and respond in accordance with applicable law. The Operator cannot individually retrieve or delete data stored only on your device that it has not obtained.

8. Changes to this policy

We review this policy as features, external services, laws, or other circumstances change. Revisions and revision dates will be announced on the App’s related website. Where the law requires separate notice or consent, we will follow the necessary procedures.
